Tata Technologies Collaborates with Synopsys to Accelerate Software-Defined Vehicle Innovation!

Tata Technologies, a global leader in product engineering and digital services, has announced a strategic collaboration with Synopsys, one of the world’s foremost providers of engineering solutions spanning from silicon to systems. This partnership marks a major milestone in accelerating the development of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) — the next frontier in automotive innovation where software, not hardware, dictates the vehicle’s performance, safety, and user experience.

The collaboration focuses on enhancing early verification and validation of complex electronic systems, a critical step in modern automotive design. By combining Tata Technologies’ deep expertise in vehicle engineering with Synopsys’ advanced virtualization and electronics digital twin (eDT) technology, the two companies aim to empower global OEMs to transition faster toward software-defined mobility.

In a recent pilot project, the collaboration successfully delivered a next-generation electrical and electronic (E/E) architecture migration blueprint for a leading European luxury car manufacturer. This solution will enable the OEM to accelerate its transition to a software-defined ecosystem, streamlining integration, simulation, and performance testing. Similar pilot programs are now underway with other major OEMs in North America, Europe, and India, reflecting the growing global demand for SDV-focused solutions.

According to Sriram Lakshminarayanan, Chief Technology Officer at Tata Technologies, “The digital shift is redefining the future of mobility, and our partnership with Synopsys is a purposeful step toward realizing a software-driven automotive future. Together, we are helping OEMs deliver safer, smarter, and more sustainable vehicles while transforming the way engineering and validation are executed.”

Tom De Schutter, Senior Vice President, Product Management & Markets Group at Synopsys, emphasized that SDV development requires “a new level of collaboration across the automotive ecosystem.” He added, “By integrating Synopsys’ world-class digital twin and verification platforms with Tata Technologies’ engineering expertise, we are enabling OEMs to accelerate development, validation, and delivery of complex software- and AI-defined vehicles while reducing risk and time to market.”

The partnership will address key automotive domains, including ADAS, powertrain, chassis, central compute systems, infotainment, gateways, connectivity, and electrification. The collaboration will focus on:

  • Developing virtual prototypes, simulation models, and eDTs to enable “shift-left” design — bringing validation earlier in the development process.
  • Using Synopsys tools for advanced performance, power, multiphysics, and reliability analysis to shorten ECU development cycles.
  • Leveraging Tata Technologies’ embedded systems and E/E architecture expertise to deliver scalable and safety-compliant designs.
  • Implementing verification and validation frameworks aligned with ISO 26262 and ASPICE standards for robust automotive software quality.

As the automotive world rapidly evolves toward connected, electric, and autonomous vehicles, this collaboration represents a crucial step in bridging the gap between mechanical engineering and intelligent software systems. By harnessing each other’s strengths, Tata Technologies and Synopsys are helping shape the foundation for the next generation of software-defined, AI-driven mobility — vehicles that are not only smarter but also safer and more sustainable.
