Nexteer Breaks Ground on Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Liuzhou to Strengthen APAC Growth and Innovation!
By Ashutosh Arora
Nexteer Automotive has officially commenced construction of a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Liuzhou, China, signaling a significant milestone in its growth strategy across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This expansion underscores Nexteer’s continued leadership in the steering systems market and aims to meet the rising demand from both Chinese and global vehicle manufacturers.
Spanning over 40,000 square meters, the upcoming facility is designed to not only scale up production capacity but also improve supply chain integration through on-site collaboration with key suppliers. The new site will incorporate a co-located supplier zone, allowing for real-time innovation, streamlined logistics, and faster responsiveness to market needs. Nexteer plans to relocate its existing Liuzhou operations to this modern site, with full transition expected in the first half of 2026.
This facility will focus on manufacturing Nexteer’s advanced steering and motion control products, including Column-Assist Electric Power Steering (CEPS) systems and Modular Power Packs—components that enhance vehicle safety, serviceability, and adaptability to future mobility platforms. It will also house modern laboratories, employee amenities, and test tracks, further reinforcing Nexteer’s emphasis on technology-driven excellence.
Jun Li, Global Vice President and President of Nexteer’s APAC Division, shared that the company’s decade-long legacy in Liuzhou has already produced over 10 million steering systems. He emphasized that this new facility will empower Nexteer to scale production and better serve the evolving demands of customers in China and the broader region. “Our Motion-by-Wire™ technologies are purpose-built for intelligent mobility, offering high standards of control, safety, and system integration,” he said.
Environmental sustainability is at the heart of the facility’s design. Built on green building and smart factory principles, the plant will feature energy-efficient infrastructure and advanced automation systems. These elements align with Nexteer’s broader goal of responsible and sustainable manufacturing—reducing environmental impact while supporting innovation.
The new facility will also maintain close collaboration with Nexteer’s APAC Technical Center in Suzhou, playing a key role in the company’s global manufacturing and R&D network. This integration reflects Nexteer’s commitment to delivering localized solutions with global standards.
Commenting on the strategic move, Robin Milavec—President, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and Executive Board Director—stated, “Nexteer’s growth in China is built on a global perspective paired with deep local insight. Our ability to anticipate and adapt to fast-changing market demands gives us an edge in delivering quality, safety, and innovation for the future of mobility.”
This latest investment positions Nexteer at the forefront of smart, sustainable manufacturing and reinforces its mission to make mobility safer, cleaner, and more exciting in one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive regions.
