Drill Service

Drill Service is a privately owned limited company founded in 1961 by the late John Howell. Originally established as a regrinding service for local manufacturers, the business quickly expanded to include the sale of a wide range of cutting tools, with a particular specialization in reamers. Our close partnerships with manufacturers—especially in the USA—have allowed us to offer an extensive selection of high-quality tools for distribution.

In 1967, we acquired our second premises on Albert Road, Horley, and we have continued to operate from these two sites ever since. Today, Drill Service remains a family-run business, with third-generation Hector Worsley becoming Managing Director in January 2025.

For over 60 years, we have built a strong reputation for exceptional service, technical expertise, and commitment to our customers. Collectively, our team holds over 300 years of experience, ensuring we provide expert advice and high-quality solutions. By staying at the forefront of industry advancements and technological innovations, we offer one of the most diverse ranges of cutting tools to meet the evolving needs of our clients.

While we still provide regrinding services, our capabilities have expanded significantly. Our highly skilled workshop now manufactures our own ranges of reamers and milling cutters, as well as designing and producing custom tools. Whether you need a simple modification to a standard tool or a fully bespoke multi-function cutting solution, we have the expertise to deliver.

In addition to our manufacturing and distribution operations, we also maintain a dedicated sub-contract drilling department. This specialized division focuses on micro-hole drilling—achieving diameters as small as 0.05mm—and deep-hole drilling for smaller sizes, providing precision solutions for even the most challenging applications.
