Kennametal high-performance milling demonstrations at Methods Open House
With high-performance solid carbide end mills like the HARVI I TE or the KOR5, Kennametal offers…
Today’s Technical Corner has Andy Pearce from Kennametal talking about CBN, a diamond material aimed at hard part machining for parts that are around 54 to 62 Rockwell. CBN is mainly used for the automotive industry, including shafts, gears, and gear box manufacturing. Andy shows us two of the latest CBN grades with PVD coating. The H10 covers plain and smooth cuts while the H20 is for both smooth and slightly interrupted cuts. Kennametal also have the latest KYHK15 ceramic grades for hard part machining. Due to the high cost of CBN, a hard turning ceramic can be used in line with CBN. Designed with the latest manufacturing technology, CBN now offers a wide range of grades, including heat-treated alloys, steels, and nickel-based alloys.
