Toyo Engineering Corporation (Japan) and MODEC Inc. have inaugurated their joint venture, TOYO MODEC OFS India Pvt Ltd, marking the opening of a new Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru. This facility, spanning around 100,000 square feet in Indiranagar, will primarily focus on supporting Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) projects, including front-end engineering design (FEED), procurement, and project support.
The strategic location in Bengaluru, known for its thriving tech ecosystem, is expected to foster innovation and collaboration between the two companies. This venture reflects a shared belief in the power of collaboration, combining expertise from both organizations to meet the complex demands of the offshore energy sector.
The new GCC is a significant step in Toyo and MODEC’s global expansion strategy. The centre has set ambitious hiring plans, with the intention of employing 750 professionals over the next three years. This move is expected to drive job creation and support India’s growing offshore energy sector, particularly in FPSO-related engineering and operations.
“This joint venture reflects our collective vision of collaboration and the endless possibilities that arise when we combine our strengths,” said Eiji Hosoi, President & CEO of Toyo Engineering Japan. Hirohiko Miyata, CEO of MODEC, emphasized the importance of the new centre’s agile and innovative environment in addressing the increasingly complex needs of FPSO projects.
The inauguration of the GCC was marked by the presence of Nakane Tsutomu, Consul-General of Japan in Bengaluru, who underscored the growing economic and technological ties between India and Japan. Tsutomu remarked that Bengaluru is a symbol of India’s technological prowess, which aligns perfectly with the goals of the GCC. The facility aims to provide valuable employment opportunities, support local industries, and accelerate progress in offshore energy projects.
At present, the GCC employs 200 professionals, and with its expansion, it is set to play a pivotal role in the collaboration between India and Japan within the offshore energy sector. The new centre represents a boost to India’s energy infrastructure while creating high-quality jobs and fostering industry innovation.
