Sandvik Coromant Transforms Kamla Nehru Hindi Primary School into a Green Model of Education

Sandvik Coromant, renowned for its expertise in metal cutting, has inaugurated its third ‘Green Model School’ and Balwadi in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra. The Kamla Nehru Hindi Primary School has undergone a comprehensive transformation to become a Green Model school, aiming to elevate the quality of education for over 400 students.

In collaboration with the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Thinksharp Foundation, Sandvik Coromant has spearheaded the development of its third Green Model Government school, Balwadi. The makeover includes the installation of solar panels for improved energy efficiency, individual libraries in each classroom to enhance literacy skills, digital infrastructure featuring computers, and educational aids including toys.

Furthermore, Sandvik Coromant has revamped the school’s interior with vibrant aesthetics such as paintings and murals on the walls, fostering creativity and student engagement. The company has also appointed dedicated staff to teach computer skills and promote digital education among students and teachers alike. The school’s inauguration took place on February 1, 2024, in the presence of Shekhar Singh (IAS), Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Kiran Acharya, Managing Director and CFO of Sandvik Coromant India, along with government officials, school staff, and the Sandvik Coromant India Team.

In the summer of 2023, Sandvik Coromant launched its second Green Model school in Malegaon Village, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing the quality of education for children in India. “Sandvik Coromant has created an environment that will not only inspire but also nurture students to develop a dedicated approach towards STEM subjects,” said the Managing Director and CFO of Sandvik Coromant India. “Primary education lays the foundation for a student’s future. It equips them for further educational pursuits, and in today’s modern world, it’s crucial for children to have an environment that fosters their aspirations and creates hope for their future.”

Acharya emphasized, “With our ongoing vision to support a higher quality of education, Sandvik Coromant firmly believes that these enhancements will positively impact the academic growth of students, preparing them for a successful future. By introducing environmental and digital initiatives at the early stages of education, we hope they learn by example and carry it into their futures.”
