Michigan Secures the Ford Battery Plant Worth $3.5 Billion

Ford Motor Company is expected to announce its plans for building a $3.5 billion lithium iron phosphate battery plant in Michigan , sources told Reuters. The plant will be owned and operated by Ford, with Chinese battery company Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) serving as a technology partner to help develop the batteries. However, Ford has declined to confirm these plans.

The proposed location for the battery plant is the Marshall area in Michigan, and it is expected to provide employment for a minimum of 2,500 workers. The state government has actively promoted the Marshall “megasite” which spans across 1,900 acres and is located approximately 100 miles west of Detroit.
