FANUC America has introduced its M-950iA, a state-of-the-art heavyweight industrial robot designed to handle payloads of up to 500 kg. The M-950iA is engineered to perform a variety of heavy-duty tasks, including handling automotive components, construction materials, and electric vehicle (EV) battery packs. This new robot fits seamlessly between FANUC’s existing M-900iB and M-1000iA models, offering unmatched versatility and adaptability for complex industrial environments.
The M-950iA boasts a serial-link structure, providing a broader range of motion compared to standard parallel-link robots. This flexibility allows it to efficiently navigate tight workspaces and variable layouts. With a reach of 2,830 mm, the robot is designed for high rigidity, capable of lifting heavy workpieces with precision and strength. The J3 axis enables impressive movement, including the ability to flip backwards, making it ideal for intricate tasks.
Ideal for applications like friction stir welding, drilling, and riveting, the M-950iA comes with an accuracy and stiffness enhancement option, which ensures exceptional precision even when subjected to external forces. This makes it suitable for industries that demand high-performance robotics, including heavy part lifting, palletizing, and material handling.
Key features and benefits of the M-950iA include:
Eric Potter, general manager of FANUC America’s Robot Application Segment, expressed excitement over the launch, noting that the M-950iA is set to become an essential tool for industries looking for adaptable and robust robotic solutions in demanding applications.
