EMP Shield plans to invest $1.9 billion in a computer chip manufacturing facility in Coffey County, creating 1,200 jobs

EMP Shield, a market pioneer in shielding electronic equipment from harmful magnetic pulses, intends to invest $1.9 billion in a Burlington-based factory for making computer chips. More than 1,200 jobs with an average salary of $66,000 will be created by the facility.

On a safe campus on 300 acres in Silicon Prairie Industrial Park, EMP Shield will construct its facility. Six out-of-state suppliers will join the business, adding 1,000 new employment to the county of Coffey.

In the new industrial park, EMP Shield intends to run four production lines that will produce thousands of chips each week over a space of about 235,000 square feet. Its vendors will produce the essential parts and have the finished goods ready for shipping.
