Christian Thönes, Chairman of the Executive Board at DMG Mori, claims that 2022 was both a year of outstanding performance for the producer of machine tools and a year marked by significant worldwide problems. Despite significant headwinds, the company was able to meet and in some cases surpass the predictions raised during the previous year.
In 2022, a variety of external factors defined the machine tool market globally. Under once again more challenging circumstances, DMG Mori was able to strengthen and in certain cases further grow its market position globally. Order intake for machine tools and services in the core business increased by 15% to an all-time high of 2,904.2 million euros. (previous year: 2,516.7 million euros).
This encouraging development was a result of both the service business and the new equipment business, the company said. The positive performance of the new machine business, which saw a 15% growth, is a reflection of the rising demand for comprehensive and long-lasting automation and digitalization solutions. Additionally, the service sector experienced +15 percent growth and broke new records. Domestic orders climbed by +20 percent to 894.4 million euros. The amount of orders from abroad increased by 14 percent to 2,009.8 million euros. Thus, 69 percent of orders were from outside the country. (previous year: 70 percent).
2023 is still a difficult year. Despite a highly turbulent market climate, DMG Mori is confident about the upcoming fiscal year. This is due to a number of factors, including the year’s strong order backlog of more than 1.6 billion euros and the year’s successful start with the Open House in Pfronten. DMG Mori has already given seven world premieres at this recurring event to more than 6,000 foreign trade attendees.
As the largest exhibitor at the EMO Hanover, the firm intends to showcase numerous other breakthroughs, including sustainable technology, automation, and digitization solutions. (18 to 23 September 2023).
