BCN3D launches its Smart Cabinet.

BCN3D, a leading Spanish manufacturer of 3D printing solutions, today announced the launch of the new Smart Cabinet to complete the new generation of EPSILON professional 3D printers, which powers the entire printing process with the BCN3D Epsilon W27 and Epsilon W50 machines.

The BCN3D Smart Cabinet is based on smart drying technology to ensure filaments are constantly kept at optimal humidity levels, ensuring the best results on every print job and protecting against print failures and nozzle clogging.

BCN3D’s goal is to provide a reliable 3D printing solution, regardless of external factors such as energy stability or ambient humidity. The Smart Cabinet provides such a solution with seamless integration with current BCN3D products, becoming the first of its kind.

With the introduction of new products, in addition to the recent investment in the business, BCN3D opens a new era in its growth and demonstrates its commitment to offer an innovative and broad product portfolio, consolidating its position as one of the main players in printing. 3D.

Its control of filament moisture keeps materials in optimal condition, and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) protects your print job at all times, eliminating the risk of losing a print job due to power outages.

The BCN3D Smart Cabinet works with the absorption drying method, alternating between drying cycles and regeneration cycles to maintain a constant dry environment around the stored coils and protect them from sudden external changes.

This device controls the relative humidity inside the hermetic container by means of a desiccant that absorbs humidity, in this case, alumina granules, which are open to the dehumidification environment.

By isolating the absorption material from the heating chamber and increasing its temperature, the absorbed moisture is released out of the chamber and the material is regenerated. After purging, the desiccant has been refreshed and is ready to collect more moisture. The airtight container and cyclical internal ventilation through the fan, heat and valves, means no user interaction is required.

This process effectively keeps the filament dry and in optimal condition for use, and means there is never a need to change the desiccant.

“The Smart Cabinet draws attention to the important fact that in order to obtain fine, repeatable parts, it is crucial to control the entire printing process, including ensuring that materials are in optimal condition. All materials are sensitive to moisture. to some extent, but some of them, such as PA, TPU or BVOH, are particularly affected by it. For example, on a humid day, a PA coil can absorb the amount of water that causes problems with printing in a few hours, in less than a day … When customers have trouble printing PA, the loss of time and money on failed or faulty print jobs is not due to the printer, or the profiles, but rather to the degradation of materials. So to really unleash the potential of AM with technical materials, beyond PLA, a solution like the Smart Cabinet is mandatory ”.

“In addition, as 3D printers increase in terms of volume, print times also grow … so in industrial or laboratory contexts, where power outages or micro-cuts are quite frequent, the Smart Cabinet offers a Life-saving protection to reduce waste and improve efficiency. Consequently, any customer who is targeting both technical materials will benefit from this new product. It should be noted that in the PA filament, for example, some mechanical properties improve by 20% with the use of the Smart Cabinet “, explains Eric Pallarés, Director of Technology at BCN3D.
