World Premiere: The DMG MORI DMX 60 & 80 U 5-Axis Machining Centres

A few weeks ago, Paul had the opportunity to preview the new DMX 60 and 80U models at the Pfronten Open House. These machines represent the next step in high-performance machining, delivering outstanding rigidity and precision. The DMX 60 and 80U feature a unique design, based on a monolithic machine bed and massive castings, providing up to 50% higher static rigidity compared to their predecessors. This, combined with wide roller guideways in all axes, ensures unparalleled stability during operation. One of the standout features of the DMX series is its swivel-rotary table, allowing for 5-sided machining of complex parts in a single set-up. With the ability to handle workpieces weighing up to 300 kg—50% more than its predecessor—the DMX 60 and 80U provide impressive versatility and efficiency. Operators will also appreciate the great accessibility for both the operator and crane, as well as the 7 T-slots, which offer maximum flexibility and easy adaptation of clamping devices. In terms of performance, the DMX series doesn’t disappoint.

With a full range of available spindles, including options up to 20,000 rpm or a high-torque version with 200 Nm, this machine is designed to tackle even the most demanding tasks. The rapid traverse of 42 m/min in all linear axes is 40% faster than its predecessor, while the table speed in both the B and C axes is over 60% higher, making the DMX series a true powerhouse. Precision and quality are at the core of the DMX 60 and 80U. The machines feature a direct measuring system for the best precision and process stability, multisensor advanced thermal compensation, and linear scales in all linear axes for the highest accuracy of positioning. All these enhancements make the DMX 60 and 80U a fantastic addition to the DMG MORI lineup and are expected to be a big seller worldwide.
