New Kennametal FIX8 turning insert for heavy metal removal

MTDCNC’s Joe Reynolds is with Andy Pearce from Kennametal to talk about the new FIX8 heavy-duty turning solution for heavy metal removal and interrupted cuts. Tangentially mounted with eight cutting edges per insert, the FIX8 is meant for steels, cast irons, stainless steels, and high temperature materials. The solution offers a large depth of cut up to 12 mm. It has a unique bent-nail type clamping system that makes it easy to use and also prevents distortion from the heat generated in the pocket seat. The heat does not affect the clamping screws, making it easier to remove, index, or replace the insert. What else does the FIX8 offer? 3D cooling, reduced cutting force, less chatter, and more ability to handle heavy interrupted cuts on a variety of components. Watch the video for more details on the available toolholder range and benefits of Kennametal’s tangential mounted insert.
