INGUN Prüfmittelbau GmbH has upgraded its training workshop to the latest standards, leveraging the comprehensive offerings from DMG MORI Academy, which includes programming software, tool presetting, and advanced CNC machines.
Holger Schäffer, Technical Training Manager at INGUN, is dedicated to providing exceptional training to ensure that the next generation can effectively meet the high demands of production. Since 1971, INGUN has been developing customized solutions for the electrical and electronic industry, focusing on printed circuit boards, batteries, and other components that require regular testing throughout the manufacturing process. With a global sales network spanning 65 countries and 450 employees, INGUN is a leading provider and development partner for industries ranging from automotive to telecommunications. The company is committed to sustainable growth through investments in production and personnel, with the training workshop being a prime example. Supported by DMG MORI Academy, the modernized workshop prepares ten new junior employees each year for quality-oriented roles in production, featuring both conventional turning and milling machines alongside a CMX 600 V and a CTX 500.
Quality Training as a Foundation for Success
High-performance contacting and testing technology is crucial for advancing innovative technologies. “Our products help manufacturers in communication electronics, electromobility, and other sectors deliver functional, reliable products,” said Holger Schäffer. The company’s offerings include custom test adapter kits, contact probes in various designs, and a wide range of accessories. “Developing and manufacturing our products requires extensive know-how and production technologies that meet high quality standards, making training essential.”
INGUN’s positive work environment, coupled with DMG MORI’s advanced CNC technology, ensures that all apprenticeship positions are filled easily.
DMG MORI Academy: Collaborating for Excellence
INGUN utilizes a wide array of DMG MORI Academy products for its training, encompassing machine tools, software solutions, and teaching materials. “We aim to train our junior staff to perfection, ensuring they meet our high standards in production upon completing their training,” said Schäffer. This goal has been enhanced through the modernization of the workshop. Having previously worked with DMG MORI machines as a vocational school teacher, Schäffer is well-acquainted with the DMG MORI Academy’s support for educational institutions and training workshops, providing innovative concepts and services.
Modern Technology for Effective Training
“The comprehensive offerings from DMG MORI Academy were ideal for updating our training workshop,” Schäffer noted. The focus has been on the CMX 600 V vertical machining center and the CTX 500 universal lathe, which is part of the Industry 4.0 training package. This package includes CELOS for Industry 4.0 applications, along with programming and training software that enables trainees to conveniently create programs at PC workstations and transfer them to CNC machines via networking. Additionally, trainees work largely paperless, accessing drawings on tablets.
Introduction to Conventional Machining
As a full-service provider, DMG MORI has also equipped the training workshop with Haimer tool presetting and shrinking technology. “Everything is networked, allowing immediate data availability on the machines,” Schäffer explained, referring to both CNC and conventional machines, including two NEF 360 LZ and three FP4 M Special Edition models that introduce trainees to machining.
Attracting Young Talent in a Competitive Market
Despite concerns about a skilled labor shortage, Schäffer is optimistic about attracting young talent. “Our reputation for providing excellent training and a positive work atmosphere is well-known in the region. We also offer regular short internships, allowing students to explore potential careers in machining technology.” The advanced CNC technology from DMG MORI further enhances the appeal. “We anticipate continuing to onboard ten trainees each year to meet our skilled worker demands.”
Looking Ahead: Expanding Training Opportunities
INGUN plans to maintain its strong partnership with DMG MORI Academy. “We are currently expanding our training workshop, creating space for new equipment,” Schäffer said, expressing excitement about adding a DMU 40 for 5-axis training. “This 5-axis universal machine will prepare our trainees for standards that are increasingly important in the machining sector.”
