Ulendo Technologies, Inc. and Rev1 Technologies have announced a strategic partnership aimed at revolutionizing the performance of extrusion-based (FDM) industrial 3D printers. This collaboration introduces advanced software upgrades that significantly enhance the speed and acceleration of these printers, leveraging Ulendo’s patented vibration compensation algorithm, Ulendo VC, developed through research at the University of Michigan by Ulendo founder Chinedum ‘Chi’ Okwudire.
Vibration has long been a persistent challenge in FDM 3D printing, adversely affecting both speed and build quality. Issues such as “ghosting,” “ringing,” and “layer shifting” become more pronounced in large industrial FDM printers, severely limiting their operational efficiency and output quality. While existing solutions like “input shaping” may offer some improvements for hobbyist desktop printers, they fall short in addressing the complexities faced by professional users operating industrial-scale printers at high speeds. Ulendo VC overcomes these limitations with a unique, real-time software algorithm that counteracts vibration, enabling significantly higher printing speeds without compromising on quality. This breakthrough allows for more efficient production processes and superior build results across various industrial applications.
As the exclusive after-sales support provider for CreatBot across the United States, Rev1 Technologies is poised to integrate Ulendo’s software upgrades into both newly purchased and existing 3D printers used in production environments. The inaugural application of this partnership will be on the CreatBot F430 printer. By implementing the Ulendo VC upgrade, users of the F430 can achieve a fivefold increase in throughput, allowing manufacturers and 3D printing service bureaus to substantially expand their printing capacity without the need for additional printers. This enhancement not only accelerates printing turnaround times but also reduces the cost per printed part and minimizes the trial-and-error process typically involved in optimizing builds.
Looking ahead, Rev1 and Ulendo plan to extend similar software upgrades to other models within CreatBot’s large-size and high-temperature series later this year. This expansion will further empower users to enhance their production capabilities, fostering greater innovation and efficiency within the 3D printing industry.
Brenda Jones, CEO of Ulendo Technologies, emphasized the significance of the partnership: “Today’s users of 3D printers expect higher speeds and superior quality to optimize their printing operations. With the Ulendo VC software upgrade, our users can achieve these performance goals without the substantial investment required for additional printers. This upgrade represents a significant advancement in making high-performance 3D printing more accessible and efficient for industrial applications.”
Ben Hartwig, President of Rev1 Technologies, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Rev1 is thrilled to partner with Ulendo to offer this cutting-edge software upgrade for the CreatBot F430. By quadrupling the printer’s speed while enhancing quality, we are addressing a long-standing challenge in the 3D printing industry and enabling our customers to dramatically expand their production capabilities. We are excited about future projects with Ulendo and the potential to push the boundaries of what’s possible in 3D printing.”
This partnership between Ulendo Technologies and Rev1 Technologies marks a significant milestone in the industrial 3D printing landscape, providing innovative solutions that drive productivity, reduce operational costs, and enhance the overall quality of printed products. By addressing critical challenges related to vibration and build quality, Ulendo VC sets a new standard for performance in extrusion-based 3D printing, supporting the growth and advancement of manufacturing and industrial sectors.
