Lightship Opens Colorado Manufacturing Facility for All-Electric RVs

Lightship, America’s first all-electric RV manufacturer, announced today that it has secured a lease for a 32,000 square-foot facility in Broomfield, Colorado. The facility will house the company’s pilot manufacturing operations for the Lightship L1, an aerodynamic, solar and battery-powered caravan that is expected to be in high demand after its March launch.

McWhinney’s newly built building is located within the Baseline Innovation District, and Lightship is planned to move in and begin operations in 2024. As production ramps up, the company expects to add dozens of positions in high-tech manufacturing and clean technology.

“This is a significant milestone for Lightship and a stepping stone towards eventually producing thousands of vehicles and helping to introduce electrification to a pastime enjoyed by millions of American families,” said Toby Kraus, Co-Founder and CEO of Lightship. “I grew up in Colorado and am excited for Lightship to establish its first production facility and contribute to my home state’s growing ecosystem of climate tech and hardware manufacturing.”

Broomfield is a growing innovation centre having easy access to a large labour pool in Denver, Boulder, and the surrounding areas. The new facility will expand Lightship’s operations in Colorado and California, and it will be a significant indicator of the company’s expected growth as it scales up large-scale production.

“We’re excited to open this new facility and grow the team that will build our first product, an RV that is safe, reliable, and built to last,” says Lightship’s Head of Manufacturing, Hayley Cashdollar. “Lightship will be recruiting for a production team of associates, technicians, engineers and more to deliver our all-electric, aerodynamic travel trailer to enhance the outdoor travel experience.”
